Gendai Yoroi Gusoku

Gendai Yoroi Gusoku

It is often assumed that the age of the samurai came to an end with the fall of the Tokugawa Shogunate in 1868, though in fact the warrior class lingered on for a few more years before being officially abolished. It is likewise assumed armour production ceased with the demise of the samurai, though in fact the katchu-shi armour makers proved much more resilient than their former clientele and continued to produce armour, with some of their lineage still producing authentic pieces to this day.

For those with the means it is still possible to have a 100% authentically hand fabricated custom armour set made to order from a true katchu-shi, though the cost could easily equal the that of a new Ferrari if you wanted to walk with pride amongst the other daimyou families. Luckily for the rest of us retainers, well made and overall historically accurate reproduction set are available.

As even decent reproduction armour often sells new for the price of a good authentic period set, we have made an effort here at Toraba.Com to stock selection of quality second-hand reproduction armour set to offer at more realistic prices designed to meet the needs of those interested in re-enactments and or just in simply having a respectable display set. Please take time explore the individual armour links below for further images and information in regard to these fine armours.
